Almost two years ago, Ubisoft Montreal took control of the development of the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time from its studios in Pune and Mumbai. Initially, it was planned to rely on existing developments, but according to Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, the project was completely redesigned.

Here's What We Know

Henderson reports that Ubisoft Montreal has completely restarted the development, aiming for a more "realistic" approach with significant graphical improvements, new animations, and updated combat and parkour mechanics. The game's story was rewritten, and all motion capture footage was redone. In addition, the main character has been redesigned, meaning that Yuri Lowenthal will not be reprising his role as the Prince.

The project is still at an early stage of development, and incomplete footage suggests that we will have to wait a long time for the release. Ubisoft may make an announcement about the game soon, possibly during the upcoming Ubisoft Forward presentation on 10 June.

The Sands of Time remake, which was initially criticised for its visual style, was delayed several times before Ubisoft outsourced development to its Montreal studio.
