Electronic Arts kills Dead Space: two well-known insiders confirmed the cancellation of the remake of the second part of the horror and the refusal to continue the series
In early 2023, the excellent remake of the cult horror Dead Space was released, which turned out to be better than the original game in all aspects.
Fans of the series hoped that high scores and rave reviews would prove to Electronic Arts the public's interest in remakes of other parts and even a full-fledged continuation of the franchise.
But it seems that these hopes were not fulfilled.
Here's What We Know
Insider and journalist Jeff Grubb on the Game Mess Mornings podcast said that for a short time EA Motive studio was working on concepts for Dead Space 2 remake, but due to low sales of the updated first part Electronic Arts cancelled (or temporarily froze) this project.
In turn, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier confirmed the Dead Space freeze, but noted that it is not only about the remake of the second part, but also about the ideas for a completely new game, which Electronic Arts did not approve.
Most likely, the Dead Space franchise will not show signs of life anytime soon, no matter how ironic it sounds in the context of the game's title.
It is already known that instead of Dead Space EA Motive will continue to work on the action game about Iron Man, and will also participate in the development of the new Battlefield.
