Apple has renewed the series "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" with Kurt Russell for a second season

Apple seems to be betting big on the Godzilla franchise, as in addition to "Monarch" being renewed for a second season, the streaming service has also struck a new deal with Legendary Entertainment to produce several spin-offs. Details about their storylines have not yet been disclosed.

Here's What We Know

Legendary Entertainment's Monster World began in 2014 with "Godzilla" and continued with "Kong: Skull Island," "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and "Godzilla vs. Kong", with the most recent addition being "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire", which is the current box office champ.

The first season of "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters ", created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, is already available to stream on Apple TV Plus. Black and Fraction will reportedly continue to serve as showrunners and executive producers for the second season.

Series Overview

The sci-fi thriller tells the story of a brother and sister who continue their father's work to uncover their family's secrets linked to a mysterious organisation known as Monarch. The clues lead them into a world of monsters and eventually down the rabbit hole to army officer Lee Shaw.The action takes place in the 1950s and half a century later, when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga, spanning three generations, reveals hidden secrets and how epic, stunning events can affect our lives.

Actors Wyatt Russell and Kurt Russell, a true father and son, will continue in the lead roles. Joining them in the first season are Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

When We Can Expect It

A premiere date for the second season has not yet been announced.
