Lockheed Martin presents MAKO multi-purpose hypersonic missile
The American company Lockheed Martin has demonstrated a new MAKO hypersonic missile for fighter jets at the Sea Air Space 2024 defence exhibition.
Here's What We Know
Due to its multi-purpose nature, the new development is capable of hitting both surface targets, such as destroyers and frigates, and ground targets, such as enemy positions, fortifications, etc. At the same time, the hypersonic speed will make it difficult for enemy air defences to operate.
The MAKO will be primarily used for F-35 fighters, but the missile can be integrated into aircraft from other allied countries.
The specific characteristics of the development are not yet known, but there is information that the missile will have a speed of Mach 5, which is more than 6,000 kilometres.
