Ukrainian minesweepers "Cherkasy" and "Chernihiv" will remain in the UK for now
The Cherkasy and Chernihiv ships will be based in a UK port until the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Here's What We Know
In the past, the British HMS Shoreham and HMS Grimsby, and now the Ukrainian Cherkasy and Chernihiv, were handed over to the Ukrainian Navy last year, but they will temporarily stay at the Portsmouth naval base.
As explained by the UK Navy, the ships will soon take part in major exercises with the Royal Navy and the US Navy, which will help Ukraine understand how to interact with NATO naval forces.
Over the past year and a half, Ukrainian sailors have been trained by British instructors to operate the new minesweepers.
The naval base commander, Commodore John Voyce, said that the ships will be based "as long as they need to be", as the Ukrainian military must first learn how to operate them.
