Google One VPN will cease operations by the end of this year
Google has announced the discontinuation of its Google One VPN service. The service, launched in 2020, will be shut down by the end of this year.
Here's What We Know
According to Google representatives, the number of users using the VPN feature was not enough to justify the resources needed to support it. Because of this, the company decided to stop the service and reallocate resources to support more in-demand Google One features.
Google has already started notifying its customers about these changes via email. It is noted that users of smartphones Pixel 7 and newer models will still be able to use Google's VPN services through Pixel settings.
Recall that Google One VPN required a monthly payment of $9.99 when it launched, but the price dropped to $1.99 per month a year ago. However, even that doesn't seem to have helped attract more customers.
