Rumour: Sony buys Shift Up Studios, developer of ambitious action game Stellar Blade
The end of April will see the release of the ambitious action game Stellar Blade, which will be the next PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Judging by the trailers and demo, the game is made on the highest technical level, which, not least, was made possible thanks to the support of Sony.
Korean studio Shift Up does not hide its ambitious plans and has already announced that it is developing a new game and does not rule out a sequel to Stellar Blade.
Such ambitious plans could not but interest Sony and, perhaps, in the near future the partners' relations will move to another level.
Here's What We Know
There is a rumour circulating on the web that Sony has bought (or will soon buy) the Shift Up studio.
According to publicly available data, in order for developer Stellar Blade to become part of PlayStation Studios, the Japanese giant will have to shell out $2.3 billion - that's how analysts estimate the market value of Shift Up. Note, back in autumn, the company was worth $1.5 billion.
Of course, there is no official confirmation of these rumours, but it is interesting that just yesterday Shuhei Yoshida - head of Sony's department for interaction with independent developers - again met with the owners of the studio Shift Up.
The Korean studio was previously rumoured to have serious interest from Saudi Arabian investors.
