Viber rolls out new feature with AI to manage unread messages
The popular messenger Viber recently introduced a new artificial intelligence-based tool that will make it easier for users to manage unread messages in group chats. The feature will summarise unread messages in group chats and extract the most important parts of a user's conversation, presenting them in a condensed form.
Here's What We Know
At launch, the new feature will only be available for group chats, but it may expand to other parts of the messenger in the future. The AI-powered tool is capable of extracting essential information from 100 unread messages and presenting it in the form of a brief summary.
To activate the new AI-powered tool, Viber users must enter a group chat with unread messages and accept the offer to get a summary of the missed part of the conversation. It's important to note that these summaries are only visible to users who request them.
The AI chat content does not include any identifiers other than usernames, which means that specific conversations cannot be externally linked to any group members. Viber will not access or store conversations or summaries on its servers, ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
According to Viber, the feature is gradually rolling out to users in the US, Philippines, Ukraine, Japan, Bulgaria and Poland, and will soon be available in other countries as well. The AI supports both iOS and Android platforms and understands more than 50 languages.
