Gamescom 2024 without an important exhibitor: Nintendo has cancelled its visit to the famous trade show

The annual prestigious gamescom exhibition will take place in Cologne (Colonia)(Germany) from 21st to 25th of August. As always, it will be attended by a huge number of the most prominent video game developers and devices.

However, one of the giants of the gaming industry has announced a revision of plans for participation.

Nintendo has decided to cancel gamescom 2024.

A spokesperson for the Japanese company said:

Gamescom 2024 is the centrepiece of Nintendo's event calendar. However, this year, after careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in the exhibition in Cologne. Instead, players can try out Nintendo Switch games at other events taking place in Germany.

Considering that last year was the first time Nintendo attended gamescom in four years, such a drastic cancellation seems strange. It is probably related to the alleged postponement of the launch of the new Nintendo Switch 2 (tentative name) console to the first quarter of 2025, as previously reported by the media.
