Google's head of artificial intelligence said that the company will spend more than $100 billion on the development of artificial intelligence technology.

Here's What We Know

Demis Gassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, was asked at the TED conference about a potential $100 billion supercomputer called Stargate, which is planned to be created by Microsoft Corp. and OpenAI.

In response, Gassabis said that he would not say how much Google was investing, but added that "sometimes we invest more than that." He also said that Alphabet has better computing power than its competitors.

Gassabis co-founded DeepMind in 2010 before it was acquired by Google ten years ago. The CEO explained that one of the reasons why DeepMind was merged with Google was to leverage the power that the tech giant has.
