Nike has unveiled 13 hyper-futuristic athletic shoe prototypes created using artificial intelligence for top athletes ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Here's What We Know
The new collection is called "A.I.R." (Athlete Imagined Revolution). It is designed for the brand's top athletes such as Kylian Mbappé, Sha'Carri Richardson and Victor Wembanyama.
The models will not be available for sale. They are characterised by extreme design with modern technology. For example, Richardson's trainers have spiral-shaped fabric wrapping around the ankle, while Mbappe's shoes feature a protruding transparent "fin" on the back.
Nike said the designs were created based on a survey of the brand's athletes and the subsequent processing of their ideas by artificial intelligence models. The company called the collection "the athletes' imagined revolution," playing off its famous air bubble technology in the outsole.
In addition to the futuristic shoes, Nike also unveiled AR-enhanced athlete statues, a preview of its new Olympic uniforms and other innovations at the Paris presentation. Rapper Travis Scott was spotted among the guests at the event.
