Denzel Washington and Spike Lee will remake Akira Kurosawa's High and Low.
The adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's classic film High and Low, will be Denzel Washington and Spike Lee's fifth collaboration for A24.
Here's What We Know
A few months ago, A24 Studios announced their plans for a reimagining of High and Low. Now, A24's X account has posted a photo to celebrate the start of filming.
The image shows Washington and Lee showing five fingers, marking the fifth work in the partnership. Previous collaborations have spawned "Malcolm X," "Mo' Better Blues," "He Got Game" and "Inside Man."
Here's What The Movie Is About
"High and Low" is Akira Kurosawa's classic 1963 film, which tells the story of a Yokohama shoe company executive caught up in a top-level extortion crisis, in the process of which, instead of his own child, his chauffeur's son is mistakenly kidnapped.
How close the modern version will be to the original story is not yet known, but all of Lee and Washington's previous works are characterised by their dynamic storytelling and provocative plots. Perhaps the same handwriting will be evident in the new "High and Low."
