Google Maps adds 3D buildings to navigation
Google Maps has introduced a new feature that adds 3D buildings to the navigation mode. This is in addition to the existing 3D buildings layer that was previously available.
Here's What We Know
The new feature was announced by insider @AssembleDebug on his Twitter. The new "show 3D buildings" option is now available in the 125 beta version of Google Maps.
AssembleDebug said the new feature will be activated during navigation. The 3D Buildings layer only shows buildings with basic 3D geometry, not textures or other details. The same level of detail is expected to be applied to 3D buildings during navigation. This should help users navigate the city by showing the height of buildings.
This is the latest in a slew of updates that have been rolled out over the past year. These include weather and air quality displays, several AI-related updates, and real-time battery charge information for electric cars.
