Social platform Snapchat is introducing a new feature for labelling content created using artificial intelligence technologies. In the near future, a special watermark will appear on the platform, which will be added to images generated using AI.
Here's What We Know
This watermark will be a ghost-shaped icon with glitter. It will be displayed on images saved in Snapchat's camera folder and also when exporting such AI-generated images.
Earlier, Snapchat has already taken steps to tag AI-generated content within the app. For instance, it has an "Expand" tool that utilises AI technology and is marked with an appropriate icon.
The platform also offers a "Dreams" feature that turns users' selfies into "fantasy images" using generative AI, accompanying the result with an explanatory card.
As such, Snapchat continues to ramp up its efforts to identify content created using AI technology to help users differentiate between such images.
