Instagram, move over: TikTok confirms testing of its photo-sharing app called TikTok Notes
TikTok has confirmed early rumours about the development of its photo sharing app, now called TikTok Notes. This app seems to be aimed at directly competing with Instagram, the dominant photo-centric platform.
Here's What We Know
In response to TikTok's rapid growth, Instagram successfully copied TikTok's video-centric feed and called it Reels. Now, it seems TikTok is ready to respond with photo-centric TikTok Notes. Although the app hasn't been released yet, its updated icon and linked website have been spotted, bringing TikTok Notes into the limelight. Soon after, TikTok apparently had no choice but to confirm the development of the app, stating on its social media accounts that early testing of TikTok Notes is now underway.
The company began limited testing and made TikTok Notes available for download in Canada and Australia. The launch of TikTok Notes signals a new phase of this competition, and users are likely to benefit from it. Whether TikTok Notes will be able to fully compete with Instagram - time will tell.
