It's been a while since we've heard any news about Beats portable speakers. But suddenly they were mentioned by the famous basketball player LeBron James, in whose hands journalists noticed an unannounced model.

Details

Ahead of the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers team posted a video on social media showing LeBron James arriving at the Ball Arena in Denver. And in his hands he is holding what appears to be a new Beats Pill model.

The original Beats Pill wireless speaker debuted back in 2012 - before Apple acquired Beats Electronics. Since then, the manufacturer has released several updates to the model. The latest version was the updated Pill+ with a Lightning connector, which Apple introduced in 2015. The Pill+ was quietly discontinued in 2022.

The speaker held by LeBron James clearly shows the Beats logo and features a strap that wasn't present on previous versions.

If this is indeed the new Beats Pill speaker being prepared for official announcement, we should expect a USB-C port like recent Apple gadgets and significant improvements, as it's been almost 9 years since the last model was released.
