Devolver Digital's hard times: the company reported significant losses in 2023 and postponed the release of an important project
Publisher Devolver Digital, which is famous for extremely creative and, in a good sense, crazy games, has published a financial report for the past fiscal year.
Here's What We Know
The report indicates that the year was a tough one for Devolver Digital, with revenue down 31% to $92 million and gross profit down 42% to $27 million. All operations resulted in a loss of $12.6 million for 2023.
The situation is somewhat saved by the huge popularity of Cult of the Lamb and Inscryption - thanks to these games, Devolver Digital's back catalogue revenue grew by 25%.
Another unpleasant news was the forced postponement of Human Fall Flat 2 release to 2026.
Overall, Devolver Digital describes 2023 as "a time of business restructuring", which was accompanied, among other things, by employee layoffs, but the company is optimistic about the future and confident in its continued success.
