Qualcomm announced the imminent release of new Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus processors
Qualcomm is gearing up for the unveiling of its Snapdragon X laptop processors and in its X social network account, Qualcomm has revealed the date of its product launch with some clues.
Here's What We Know
The company has already published a short teaser video that shows the processor transforming into a 3D image of the "X". While the teaser didn't directly confirm the launch of the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, all indications are that the big reveal will indeed happen on April 24.
Leaks about Lenovo's new Yoga Slim 7 laptop, which is rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon X Elite chip, add weight to these speculations. This laptop is expected to be the first device with Qualcomm's new SoC.
The Snapdragon X Elite chip has already made a name for itself with dedicated AI capabilities for PCs, delivering an impressive NPU performance of 45 TOPS. Benchmarks show that its performance far exceeds Apple's M3 chip in Geekbench benchmarks. Surprisingly, it even performed comparable to Intel Core i7-13700HX, Core i9-13900H and AMD's latest mobile flagship Ryzen 9 8945HS on Geekbench.
If these numbers match real-world performance, Qualcomm's new SoC could seriously compete with established industry players. There are also rumours of an artificial intelligence feature for Windows 11, which could be exclusive to Snapdragon X Elite-based devices. As the announcement date approaches, we can expect a clearer picture of Qualcomm's plans for the Snapdragon X lineup.
