Polish President Andrzej Duda said that his country is ready to deploy nuclear weapons if NATO decides to do so.

Here's What We Know

Poland, which is a NATO member and strong supporter of Ukraine, shares a border with both Russia's Kaliningrad exclave and Belarus. According to Duda, if the allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons on Polish territory to strengthen the Alliance's eastern border, he will support this decision.

Duda spoke to Polish media after a visit to New York, where he held meetings at the UN and discussed the war in Ukraine with former US President Donald Trump. In March, he also visited Washington, D.C., where he had a dialogue with Joe Biden. The president explained that discussions on nuclear cooperation between Poland and the United States have been going on for "some time".

In fact, the allies may mirror Russia's decision to deploy its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
