Tesla has unveiled the Model 3 Performance: 510 horsepower, acceleration to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a range of 528 kilometres for a price of $52,990
Tesla revealed the updated Model 3 last September, and now it has released the top-of-the-line version of the electric car with the Performance prefix.
Here's What We Know
The novelty has received several external changes compared to the regular kits. For example, Tesla has fitted more aggressive front and rear bumpers, as well as a carbon spoiler and 20-inch wheels with Pirelli tyres. The Model 3 Performance elephant gets carbon fibre inserts and sports seats.
In terms of performance, the car has been fitted with two electric motors with a total output of 510bhp and peak torque of 741Nm. According to Tesla, the novelty accelerates to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. The range will be enough to reach 528 kilometres on the WLTP cycle or 476 km/h on the EPA cycle. Compared to the previous Model 3 Performance, the new powertrain is capable of delivering 22 per cent more sustained power, 32 per cent more peak power and 16 per cent more peak torque. And all of this is achieved with lower overall energy consumption.
In addition, the car features a new Adaptive Damping System that takes into account driver behaviour and road conditions in real time, optimising ride and handling. The new car also boasts Track Mode V3. It integrates engine management, suspension control, powertrain cooling and Tesla's vehicle dynamics controller into a single system.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The Tesla Model 3 Performance is already available to order in the US and Europe. With taxes, the electric car costs $52,990/€56,990/£59,990. The first deliveries of the car will start in May or June.
