Huawei's new Kirin 9010 chip has been compared in performance to the latest Snapdragon and Dimensity chips
Huawei recently unveiled a series of its new flagship smartphones, the Pura 70. These devices, like the previous Mate 60 series, are equipped with the company's proprietary Kirin chipset. However, this time the company has introduced a new Kirin 9010 processor, which promises improved performance over the Kirin 9000. But how much better is the new chip from Huawei!
Here's What We Know
It seems that Huawei still doesn't have the technology to surpass the performance of even mid-tier chips from Snapdragon. Recent benchmarks have shown that the Kirin 9010 can't outperform last year's Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. In Geekbench 6, Huawei's new SoC scored 1,446 in single-core mode and 4,524 in multi-core mode. This is significantly lower than the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300 flagships. Even the two-year-old Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship performs better.
To be fair, Huawei doesn't have advanced chipset technology, so it would be unfair to compare it to current flagships. So it's only fair to compare it to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which is last year's mid-tier SoC. Here too, the Kirin 9010 doesn't look convincing.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 scores an average of 1,687 in single-core mode and 4,378 in multi-core mode. So while the Kirin 9010 outperforms last year's SoC in multi-core mode, it can't catch up with the single-core score. The situation worsens when you consider the GPU performance. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra with Kirin 9010 scores 1,531 in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited, while last year's Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 scores 1,956 in the same test. The Huawei chipset also lags behind its competitor in the AnTuTu test.
Of course, the benchmark results do not show the whole performance picture. In reality, the difference may not be so noticeable. But since Huawei is now limited in new chip technologies, this result can be considered good.
At the same time, Huawei flagships occupy the first lines in another test - DxOMark. This company evaluates the photographic capabilities of smartphones. To date, Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ takes the second place among the best camera phones. And with the new Pura 70 Ultra camera, the company has taken photography to a new level. So we can expect that this model can become the new leader in this ranking.
