Polish studio People Can Fly - the author of the famous shooters Painkiller and Bulletstorm, as well as commercially unsuccessful action Outriders - announced that it has cancelled one of the major projects in development.

Here's What We Know

For several years, the company has been working on an ambitious RPG codenamed Project Dagger.

The project was originally commissioned by Take-Two Interactive, but after two years of production, the company cancelled the agreement, after which People Can Fly continued to develop the game and hoped to release it independently. But after the failure of Outriders, the coronavirus pandemic and the global economic crisis, People Can Fly decided to abandon the development of Project Dagger.

This decision was also influenced by the fact that the studio's analysts didn't see much commercial potential in this game.

The company's losses amounted to 20 million dollars, but they were made for the last fiscal year.

Recall, according to unconfirmed information, at the moment People Can Fly is working with Microsoft and is working on an unannounced game Project Maverick with a budget of up to $50 million.
