Earlier than expected: Belgium to transfer F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Ukraine in 2024

In December 2023, Belgium, following the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway, announced that it was going to transfer F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Ukraine in 2025. Now there is information that the delivery of aircraft will be accelerated.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by the publication BRF, referring to the words of Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. Due to the fact that rf began to pressurise the AFU, Belgium decided to transfer the first aircraft to Ukraine by the end of 2024. Unfortunately, the exact terms of delivery are not yet available. It is also unknown how many Belgian F-16s Ukraine will receive. Belgium has a total of 53 F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft in service in AM and BM modifications.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multi-role light fighter. It was developed by the American company General Dynamics. Due to its versatility and low cost, the F-16 is a success on the international market. It is in service with 24 countries. The F-16 is the most mass-produced fighter of the fourth generation. As of 2009, over 4,400 have been built and over 2,500 were in service in 2016.
