Norway has decided to provide a $600 million aid package to support Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

Recently, the Norwegian parliament supported the government's proposal to increase support for Ukraine in 2024 by allocating 7 billion kroner more, or $600 million.

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said after the meeting that 6 billion kroner ($541 million) would be spent on air defence equipment and another billion kroner on other support. With these changes, the total amount of Norwegian aid to Ukraine in 2024 will reach 22 billion kroner in support.

Ine Eriksen Søreide, Chair of the Storting's Foreign Affairs Committee, noted that discussions on the general framework of the Norwegian aid programme for Ukraine have not yet been completed.

In her opinion, the Norwegian authorities should already raise the issue of revising the 5-year budget for assistance to Ukraine, which is approximately 75 billion kroner. This is because there are fewer funds left for the next years than originally planned.
