The Planet of the Apes franchise, which centres on the theme of intelligent apes dominating humans, began with a novel by French writer Pierre Boulle published in 1963. However, the younger generation is probably more familiar with the franchise thanks to the film trilogy directed by Matt Reeves. In May, we will see a new instalment, directed by Wes Ball, the director of The Maze Runner. With only a few days left before the premiere, 20th Century Studios has released the final trailer for the film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Here's What We Know

The trailer depicts a world where monkeys have been in charge for hundreds of years, and people resemble primitive creatures. The story centres on a young monkey named Noah. His village was attacked by a cruel tyrant, Proximus Caesar, who considers himself the main ape on Earth.

Another important character in the film is the girl Maya. She is almost the only person who has retained her intelligence. She knows what has happened to the world, but it turns out that the young apes have been hiding the truth that humans have been in charge for thousands of years, and that a single virus changed everything.

The special effects and graphics are worth praising separately. With each previous film, the image quality reached a new level, and here it feels like a cosmic leap.

When We Can Expect It

The premiere of the film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for 9 May 2024. It is not necessary to watch Reeves' trilogy before going, but understanding this universe will help you better navigate the new film.
