Horizon Call of the Mountain game director fired after 7 years at Firesprite
In February, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced its plans to cut 900 jobs as part of a reassessment of its operations. For example, Sony London, which developed VR games, was closed completely. Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games also underwent layoffs. Now it has become known about the changes that took place at Firesprite studio.
Here's What We Know
Firesprite has fired game director Alex Barnes, who was responsible for the VR game Horizon Call of the Mountain and worked at the studio for 7 years.
Alex wrote that the last few months have been difficult times. He also noted that it was a lifelong honour to be a game director in such a team.
It is also reported that Firesprite's next game has been cancelled. It is claimed that the British studio was developing a new Twisted Metal game.
Earlier, former Firesprite employees accused two unnamed executives of sexual discrimination and the studio of a toxic work culture. So, it's unlikely that everything was going well at Firesprite, and such layoffs are quite expected.
