Japan has handed over the TPS-P14ME early detection radar station to the Philippines, based on a Mitsubishi Fuso Super Great truck.

The information appeared on the website of the Philippine Air Force. The radar station was transferred to the Philippines by Japan. The contract is for four fixed early detection radar stations worth $103.5 million. The purchase of radars is part of the AFP Modernisation Horizon 2 programme to modernise the early detection systems of the Philippine Air Force.

The TPS-P14ME is a mobile airborne target surveillance radar system offering accurate detection and tracking of multiple aerial targets. It operates in S-band and is based on the successful J/TPS-P14 model used by the Japan Self-Defence Force. The system is reliable in a variety of operating environments and is considered compact, rapidly deployable and transportable. It is based on the Mitsubishi Fuso Super Great truck.
