Social network Snapchat has added new features using artificial intelligence, including the ability to set reminders and countdowns in the app using the My AI chatbot.

Here's What We Know

Users can ask the virtual assistant to set a reminder for an event or task right in the chat window or while chatting with a friend. For example, you can ask My AI to remind you to finish work by a certain deadline.

The update also brings the long-awaited option to edit sent messages within 5 minutes. It will first be available to Snapchat+ subscribers, and then it will be extended to all users.

In addition, with the help of generative AI, users will be able to create unique digital clothing designs for their animated Bitmoji avatars - from jumper prints to t-shirt designs.

Another innovation concerns reactions in cards and chats. Friends who share their location will be able to send quick responses in the form of emoji or animated gestures. And emoji-based responses will appear in the dialogues themselves.

The launch of the new features follows Snap's recent report that its active user base will grow to 422 million in the first quarter of 2024. The number of paid Snapchat+ subscribers has also tripled year-on-year.
