The Fall Guy with Gosling grossed $28 million in its first weekend, and the first episode of Star Wars - $8 million
Last weekend was quite interesting in terms of premieres at the box office. Everyone's favourite Ryan Gosling appeared on the big screen again, and Star Wars fans could watch the first episode in the cinema again (or for the first time). But how much did all these films earn?
Here's What We Know
The Fall Guy with Gosling took first place at the box office. The film managed to collect $28.5 million. However, according to forecasts, it was supposed to raise between $30 and $35 million. The approximate budget of the film is $130 million. It's not a huge amount, so the film has time to start making a profit.
In general, box office receipts have fallen sharply compared to the same period last year, as people went to the cinema to see the third Guardians of the Galaxy.
The first episode of Star Wars returned to cinemas on the occasion of the film's 25th anniversary. It managed to earn $8.1 million and gain a foothold in second place.
The sports drama Challengers, starring Zendaya, dropped to third place with $7.6 million over the weekend.
Tarot, produced by Sony and Screen Gem, grossed $6.5 million in its first weekend, which is a good start considering that the film cost $8 million to make and had no active marketing campaign.
