To date, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the best-selling Android smartphone in the world
Samsung announced the new flagship Galaxy S24 earlier this year, which immediately caught the public's attention with its Galaxy AI features. The top-of-the-line model showcased all of the company's best features and seems to have gained the most buyer interest. It turns out that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is so good that it has become the best-selling Android smartphone in the first quarter of 2024.
Here's What We Know
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has surpassed its predecessor in terms of sales in major markets around the world. According to a Counterpoint Research report, the S24 Ultra accounted for 1.9 per cent of total smartphone sales. While the first four spots were occupied by iPhone models. iPhone 15 Pro Max took the top spot with a share of 4.4 per cent, followed by iPhone 15 (4.3 per cent), iPhone 15 Pro (3.7 per cent) and iPhone 14 (1.9 per cent).
Even though the first four places were taken by iPhones, the Galaxy S24 Ultra's results are impressive. It is the only Android smartphone on the list that costs more than $1,000. In comparison, in the same quarter of 2023, the best-selling Android smartphone in the same quarter was the Galaxy A13, and the S23 Ultra ranked sixth with a 1.3 per cent share.
The Galaxy S24's success can be attributed to its early launch and Galaxy AI features. Apart from the Pixel 8, it is the only notable Android smartphone that currently offers generative artificial intelligence features. Samsung's marketing efforts and the wide availability of the phone probably also played a big role in its success. Thanks to strong demand for the Galaxy S24, Samsung earned $51 billion in the first quarter.
