Since the beginning of 2024, more and more Ukrainian drones have been attacking oil refineries in russia.

In early April, a drone attacked industrial facilities on the territory of Tatarstan, which is located 1,200 kilometres away from Ukraine. Such a range surprised many military experts, but even this, as it turned out, is not the limit of possibilities for Ukrainian drones.

Here's What We Know

Tonight "unknown drones" carried out an attack on one of the largest oil complexes in russia.

An unspecified UAV model hit a critical catalytic cracking unit at a plant in Salavat, Bashkiria, which is owned by Gazprom.

Undoubtedly, the fact of hitting such an important production facility is extremely important, but the most important thing in the attack on Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is the distance. The plant is located 1,500 kilometres from Ukraine and such a huge distance was not an obstacle to a successful operation.

Flashback

The Salavat refinery is Russia's largest petrochemical complex and one of Gazprom's leaders in oil refining, petrochemicals and fertiliser production.

The complex includes oil refineries, gas chemical plants and the Monomer plant, which produces more than 150 products, including motor gasoline, oil and diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, ammonia, sulphur, various types of polyethylene and others.
