Google has announced the release of a new School Time feature on Wear OS watches. This additional update to Google Play services is designed to make it easier for parents to control their children's use of smartwatches.

Here's What We Know

"School Time allows parents to set up restrictions on the apps their children can use during school hours and mutes their devices during this time.

This new option is similar to the Schooltime feature on Apple Watch devices, which allows parents to control access to apps and set lunch breaks and emergency calls.

The Google Play services update with version 24.18, released on 8 May, includes this feature for Wear OS watches.

Although the description of the School Time feature does not provide details on how it works, it is expected to work similarly to Apple devices.

It is not known whether all Wear OS smartwatches will support this new feature or whether it will be limited to new devices.
