Here's What We Know

If negotiations go well, this would make Weaver the first new cast member of the "Mandalorian & Grogu" film. Filming will reportedly begin later this year and a release date for the project has even been named.

"Mandalorian & Grogu" will be directed by Jon Favreau, who has already shown his passion for the Star Wars universe in two seasons of the TV series "The Mandalorian". He will be joined on the production team by Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.

Details are being kept under wraps for now, but the plot will definitely follow the ongoing adventures of Dean Jarin / Mandalorian and his tiny sidekick, Grogoo. Both characters have undoubtedly won the hearts of fans, judging by the success of The Mandalorian series on the Disney+ streaming service.

"The Mandalorian & Grogu" is scheduled to premiere on 22 May 2026.
