Sigourney Weaver of "Alien" and "Avatar" fame is set to join the Star Wars universe by starring in the film "Mandalorian & Grogu"
"Mandalorian & Grogu" may be adding three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver to its cast. The actress is known for her work in the "Alien" and "Avatar" franchises, as well as projects like Marvel's "Ghostbusters" and "Defenders."

If negotiations go well, this would make Weaver the first new cast member of the "Mandalorian & Grogu" film. Filming will reportedly begin later this year and a release date for the project has even been named.
"Mandalorian & Grogu" will be directed by Jon Favreau, who has already shown his passion for the Star Wars universe in two seasons of the TV series "The Mandalorian". He will be joined on the production team by Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.
