Adam Scott has announced the release of the second season of the Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller Severance
The star of the critically acclaimed sci-fi psychological thriller Severance, Adam Scott, has hinted that a second season is coming and assured that it will be "real fun".
Here's What We Know
During a recent conversation, Scott expressed excitement about the upcoming season, but was less than eloquent about specific details:
"I wish I could tell you and everybody about what's coming up because it's going to be so much fun. I can’t wait for people to see it, but I can’t say a word, but it’ll finally be coming out in the somewhat near future and I can’t wait for everyone to see it. That’s basically it. It was so much fun to make.".
Despite the first season of Severance receiving high marks for its original plot and skilful creation of tension in the storytelling, the second season was highly questionable.
Problems included internal strife and industry strikes. Tensions between co-directors Dan Erickson and Mark Friedman led to complications in the early stages of development for the second season. Ben Stiller, who served as primary director and executive producer, had to be brought in to keep Friedman on the project, but tensions persisted, making script development and budget management difficult. Strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA also caused delays. Nevertheless, filming resumed in January 2024.
When We Can Expect It
The second season of Severance has not yet been given a release date.
