Samsung may cancel the release of the cheaper Galaxy Fold 6 model
As usual, Samsung will start the second half of this year with the launch of Galaxy Flip 6 and Galaxy Fold 6. However, many different rumours have emerged around the Fold 6. Some leaks report that Samsung will launch a cheaper Galaxy Fold 6, while others claim that the South Korean company will launch the Galaxy Fold 6 Ultra, possibly with better cameras. A new report indicates that the cheaper Fold 6 may be cancelled.
Here's What We Know
TheElec reports that Samsung is reconsidering its plans to launch a cheaper Galaxy Fold 6 this year. The South Korean company was reportedly planning to launch a cheaper Fold 6 (possibly the FE model) alongside the standard Galaxy Fold 6. However, it allegedly lacked the digitizer needed for S Pen functionality, meaning no S Pen compatibility.
The company reportedly recently completed testing of the device, which has an IPX8 rating and a 200,000 fold rating, but it wasn't thinner than foldable smartphones from Chinese rivals. Samsung had planned to create a device thinner than the standard Fold 6 and more durable than its Chinese counterparts, but it apparently failed to do so.
Due to lack of product differentiation and uncertainty in the market, Samsung is reportedly planning to cancel the launch of the cheaper model. According to the latest information, only the standard Galaxy Flip 6 and Galaxy Fold 6 will be launched. According to the latest reports, Samsung is planning to launch a cheaper version of the Galaxy Flip 7 next year.
