Amazon has announced its plans for large-scale investments in France: the company plans to invest more than $1.3 billion in the country, hoping to create more than 3,000 jobs.

Here's What We Know

The French president said that Amazon and other companies, including GSK and Accenture, will announce billions of dollars in investments during the country's annual "Choose France" event, which began on 13 May.

Amazon's investments will be used to expand its cloud infrastructure in the Paris area to support France's generative artificial intelligence capabilities and logistics infrastructure in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

In total, Amazon has invested more than €20 billion in its operations in France since 2010 and currently employs more than 22,000 people in its cloud and other businesses.

Part of the investment will also be used to expand the logistics network to increase delivery speeds and reduce carbon emissions.
