Final Fantasy 16 did not meet Square Enix's expectations
During the recent financial report, Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu said that Final Fantasy 16, like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, did not meet sales forecasts. According to Bloomberg, Kiryu mentioned the slowdown in sales of Final Fantasy 16 after its initial launch.
Here's What We Know
It is important to note that Final Fantasy 16 premiered exclusively on PS5, and a PC port is already in development but not yet available on other platforms. This probably influenced the game's failure to reach Square Enix's sales targets.
Naoki Yoshida, the producer of Final Fantasy 16, recently spoke about the game's development, expressing his admiration for Square Enix's approval of the required budget despite the high production costs.
Debuting in June 2023, Final Fantasy 16 received two expansion packs: Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.
