During the Google I/O 2024 conference, the company presented the Developer Preview for the upcoming version of Wear OS 5, which contains several unexpected innovations.
Here's What's New About It
- A grid-based app launcher: The new interface allows users to switch between a grid and an app list, providing a more convenient way to organise apps.
- Privacy dashboard: Similar to Android 12, this dashboard allows you to view sensitive app permissions and control access to apps.
Additionally, Wear OS 5 promises significant improvements in battery life, including 20% less power consumption during long workouts. Additional features for the Health Services app and support for new types of complications and data sources are also mentioned.
The update to Wear OS 5 is expected to be available later this year, but developers can already try out the new options using the Developer Preview.
