Crash test results for new iPad Pro 2024 models published online
After the release of the new iPad Pro 2024 models, JerryRigEverything, AppleTrack and MobileReviewEh conducted durability tests.
Here's What We Know
The new iPad Pro models are the thinnest in their history. The 11-inch version is just 0.21 inches thick, down from 0.23 inches for the previous generation, and the 13-inch iPad Pro is just 0.20 inches, down from 0.25 inches for its predecessor.
The testers noted that the tablets held up well to pressure bending at the back, although they found some vulnerability when bent at the front. They also noted that the tint in the middle of the tablet significantly improved its rigidity and helped dissipate heat.
Vertical bending was more susceptible than horizontal bending due to the placement of the charging ports, but all tablets returned to their original shape after the tests. The cameras and touchscreen continued to work without any problems, but the tablet glass shattered during the extreme tests.
The iPad Pro 11-inch model weighs just under a pound, and the 13-inch model weighs 1.28 pounds.
