An insider has released exclusive information about Valve's new Deadlock game - it will be a fast-paced competitive shooter similar to Dota 2, Overwatch and Valorant
For many years, the network has been receiving scrappy and not quite clear information about a new game from Valve, which is already a rare phenomenon in itself.
In autumn 2022, the American developer registered the trade mark Neon Prime - it became known from the data of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. And all this time it was unclear what project is hidden under this name, although once one of the insiders even promised gamers its rapid presentation. But it never happened.
The other day a dataminer under the nickname Gabe Follower published another portion of fresh information and even revealed the new name of the game.
Here's What We Know
Here is what information Gabe Follower provided:
- Neon Prime has been renamed Deadlock;
- it will be a dynamic competitive shooter with a third-person view;
- the design of the characters resembles the style of Dota 2;
- each character has unique abilities, can take possession of various items. Also in the game there are elements of Tower Defence genre;
- gameplay consists of two teams of six people fighting on a huge map with four main lines (also similar to Dota 2);
- the game's setting combines fantasy and steampunk elements;
- the map resembles an Eastern European city, which is similar to Half-Life;
- players will be able to move on suspended rails, as it is realised in BioShock Infinite;
- according to Gabe Follower, Neon Prime/Deadlock is like something between Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite and Orcs Must Die.
Gabe Follower did not remain unsubstantiated and published several screenshots, the authenticity of which was later confirmed by SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik.
