Insiders: adding a new Call of Duty installment to Game Pass could lead to higher subscription prices
A few days ago, The Wall Street Journal reported that Microsoft and Activision executives are planning to add a new Call Of Duty installment, rumoured to be released as Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War or Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, to the Game Pass catalogue on release day. This will be the first game in the series to appear on the Xbox service.
Surely fans of shooters will be happy about this decision, but there is a possibility that it will have negative consequences, about which some insiders are already warning.
Here's What We Know
According to a number of sources, adding a shooter to Game Pass will be a great excuse to raise the subscription price.
Microsoft may resort to such a measure because of the huge costs of the purchase of Activision Blizzard, which totalled more than $70bn including all costs.
This is the opinion of a number of well-known analysts and insiders, including shinobi602.
Experts believe that such an announcement may be made in the near future.
According to information from the editor of The Verge portal Tom Warren Activision plans to release the shooter on 25 October 2024, probably then Microsoft and will report on the increase in the cost of subscriptions.
As a reminder, there are three Game Pass plans available to players right now: Xbox Game Pass Core and PC Game Pass for $10 per month and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $17.
