Here's What We Know
A photo of ADM-160 MALD was shared by military analyst @front_ukrainian. The Ukrainian armed forces use them with MiG-29 fighter jets. What is interesting is that the deliveries of such decoys have not been previously reported. By the way, the Ukrainian army can use ADM-160 MALDs paired with ATACMS ballistic missiles, as well as StormShadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles, which are in service with the AFU.
Flashback
ADM-160 MALD (Miniature Air-Launched Decoy) is a small-sized decoy missile developed by Raytheon for the US Air Force. The main mission of the missile is to simulate various air targets in order to confuse enemy air defence systems. This allows main battlefield aircraft to perform their missions with less risk of being detected and hit. The ADM-160 MALD can play radio signals to simulate the behaviour of various aircraft, making it an important element in modern air operations. There is also a MALD-J modification equipped with electronic suppression capabilities to suppress and disable enemy radars and other electronic systems.
