Tom Henderson: Valve's upcoming shooter Deadlock is in alpha, with gameplay and mechanics reminiscent of Dota
We wrote that insider Gabe Follower told more about Valve's new game Deadlock, a dynamic competitive shooter similar to Dota 2, Overwatch, and Valorant. The existence of the shooter was confirmed by another well-known insider.
Here's What We Know
Tom Henderson has confirmed that Deadlock does exist. Deadlock is currently in the alpha stage. Officially, the game is described as "early development with a lot of experimental game features and art assets".
It will be a third-person shooter where two teams compete, each with 6 players. Heroes include mages, robots, creatures, humans, etc. There are currently 19 different heroes, each with different abilities and playstyles.
The game is similar to Dota in terms of gameplay and mechanics. You need to kill enemies and creeps to get "souls", which allow you to buy items that make your hero stronger.
Creeps appear randomly throughout the map, including a big boss in the middle of the map.
When We Can Expect It
Deadlock will be released at least in 2025, as there is no official date yet.
