China has introduced a chatbot based on the thoughts and philosophy of Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

This innovative project, developed with the help of artificial intelligence, uses a large amount of literature related to the ideas and strategies promoted by the Chinese leader.

According to a report published by The Financial Times, the Xi Jinping-based chatbot was trained using more than a dozen books attributed to the Chinese leader, as well as official government documents and programmes. This initiative, conducted under the auspices of the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), reflects a strategic approach to the use of artificial intelligence in the country's political interests.

The chatbot can answer questions, generate reports, summarise information and translate between Chinese and English. However, it operates within strict political and ideological boundaries set by the Chinese government. This reflects China's general tendency to control the use of information technology for its own political purposes.
