iFixit stops working with Samsung due to high prices and parts availability issues
iFixit, a well-known electronics repair company, has announced that it will end its partnership with Samsung. For two years, iFixit was the official distributor of Samsung parts and tools, but starting from June 2024, this partnership programme will be closed.
Here's What We Know
The main reason for this decision was the high prices of spare parts and repair tools, which iFixit believes may convince users to replace their devices completely rather than repair them. In addition, Samsung has not provided official spare parts for its new models since the Galaxy S22.
iFixit also noted that Samsung was unwilling to help local repair shops, which is contrary to iFixit's goals and principles. As a result, despite its best efforts over the past two years, iFixit has decided to end its co-operation with Samsung. As of June 2024, iFixit will no longer be an official distributor of Samsung parts and tools.
In response, Samsung said it will continue to offer parts for its devices through Samsungparts.com, which will be maintained by another repair service provider, Encompass. However, the site currently lacks a smartphone repair parts category. It is possible that Samsung will add smartphone repair parts to the site in June, when the partnership with iFixit officially ends.
