Astronomers discover exoplanet Gliese 12 b with temperature similar to Earth
Astronomers have recently announced the discovery of an exoplanet that could be a revolutionary finding in the exploration of other worlds. The new findings show that this Venus-sized planet, located just 40 light-years from Earth, has almost the same temperatures as our own planet.
Here's What We Know
This exoplanet, known as Gliese 12 b, is becoming an object of intense study because of its potential similarities to Earth. According to rough estimates, the temperature on its surface reaches about 42 degrees Celsius (107 degrees Fahrenheit), making it one of the most similar to our planet among the known exoplanets.
The main goal of astronomers now is to determine whether Gliese 12 b has an atmosphere and whether the planet is capable of retaining liquid water on its surface.
Future studies using the James Webb Space Telescope may reveal even more information about this mysterious planet.
Detailed results of the discovery were published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
