First previews of The Alters: journalists were pleased with the unusual combination of mechanics and excellent elaboration of the relationships of interesting characters
Journalists of some media had a chance to get acquainted with unusual sci-fi adventure The Alters from Polish studio 11 bit - the author of This War of Mine and Frostpunk and published their impressions of the game.
Here's What We Know
First of all, let us remind you that the main feature of The Alters is its plot, in which researcher Jan Dolski finds himself alone on a hostile planet, and to survive and leave it he creates his clones. Each clone of Jan has a unique personality, special character, outlook and talents, between them there are constant conflicts and it is difficult for them to get along on the same research base, so the player needs to monitor the order and maintain discipline.
The authors of the preview noted that The Alters interestingly combines elements of different genres: it is at the same time an adventurer, a survival simulator, and a strategy about the construction of the base.
Journalists liked the fact that players are offered not only to roam the planet, collect resources and improve the base, built in the form of a huge wheel, but also to communicate with clones, which are called "Alters" (Alters) - this name was chosen for a reason, because each clone is an alternative version of Jan and shows the hero, who he could have become if he had made other decisions in life.
It is noted that the interactions between the characters are perfectly developed. Due to the fact that each clone has its own personality and worldview, their dialogues are always interesting, unexpected, and often witty. And to keep relations between the clones normal, the player needs to listen to each one.
In addition to communicating with the alters and resolving internal conflicts, the protagonist will have to deal with a harsh external environment: the planet is dangerous, unfamiliar, with a difficult climate and a complex rocky landscape, and in addition, saturated with radiation.
When We Can Expect It
The Alters release date is unknown, but recently 11 bit studios announced that the game will be released "a few weeks after the release of Frostpunk 2", and it will take place on the 25th of July.
The Alters will be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
