The Tensor G5 chip for the Google Pixel 10 will be manufactured at TSMC's facilities
Google is working in partnership with TSMC to develop a new Tensor G5 chip, which is expected to debut next year with the release of the Pixel 10 smartphone. This information was discovered thanks to a leaked shipping manifest from India that contained details about the chipset version under development.
Here's What We Know
This shipping manifest mentions TSMC's InFO POP technology, as well as Google's codename for the Tensor G5 - LGA (Laguna Beach). The document also mentions support for 16GB of RAM from Samsung. The package mentioned here comes from Tessolve Semiconductor, an Indian semiconductor testing company, according to reports. Tessolve is believed to be fulfilling some of the functions previously carried out by Samsung. Additional details about the chip are not yet known.
As Google gears up for the autumn release of three Pixel 9 models with the Samsung-made Tensor G4 chip, don't expect any significant hardware updates. The focus will be on the artificial intelligence features that have already become a hallmark of the Pixel 8 series.
Unlike the Tensor chipsets used in the Pixel 6 to Pixel 9, which are modified versions of Samsung Exynos manufactured in Samsung's factories, the Tensor G5 chipset will be entirely developed by Google.
