The maximum number of online players in Helldivers 2 on PlayStation 5 and PC has reached 750 thousand, - the founder of Arrowhead Game Studios
Helldivers 2 is undoubtedly one of the most incredible success stories of this year: the game was released after a long development cycle and exceeded all possible expectations of Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios, as it became the best-selling game ever released by PlayStation, reaching 12 million copies as of mid-May 2024. During the Nordic Game Conference, the founder of Arrowhead Game Studios, Johan Pilestedt, shared some new information about the game's success.
Here's What We Know
During the conversation, Pilestedt said that the maximum total number of online players on PlayStation 5 and PC has reached more than 750 thousand people. Thanks to the SteamDB database, we know that the peak online player count on Steam is 458 thousand, so we can assume that on PlayStation, this figure was at the level of 300 thousand.
Pylestedt also said that the development of the game took the team eight years: it started in 2016 and was supposed to last approximately three years. Personally, it took Pielestedt seven years, eleven months, and twenty-six days.
