The HIMARS missile launchers supplied by the United States proved to be "completely ineffective" due to Russian electronic warfare systems.

Here's What We Know

The Washington Post has analysed confidential documents that state that Ukraine has had to stop or reduce the use of many US-supplied weapons due to targeting problems.

The report mentions weapons such as the Excalibur GPS-guided artillery shells and the High-Impact Rocket Launcher System, or HIMARS. In addition, the jamming was able to paralyse not only missile systems but also satellite communications, including SpaceX's Starlink service, which is of great importance to the Ukrainian army.

"Excalibur technology in its current versions has lost its potential. Its use on the battlefield in Ukraine has disproved its reputation as a one-shot, one-target weapon," the assessment says.

The HIMARS system, which can launch missiles up to 80 km away, was seen as a lifeline for Ukraine at the start of the full-scale war, but has now become a much smaller threat on the battlefield, a Ukrainian military source told The Post.

"The Russians have used electronic warfare, switched off satellite signals, and HIMARS has become completely ineffective," the unidentified military source said.
